Fresh Horizons National Tour
2008/2009

This is possibly the hottest topic today as denominations consider the enormous ‘seniors’ resource already active and enthusiastic for mission and ministry within our churches. Fresh Horizons is designed to inform, inspire and initiate mission and ministry among third-age seniors. The day will offer reflection, challenge, insight, testimony and opportunity for third age seniors to consider the challenges of ageism and active involvement in church at home and abroad following retirement. Cost is £5 (if packed lunch) and £10 (if the church provides a cooked meal). All delegates must register with the Mission department.

Albany Baptist Church, Cardiff: 17 January
Beacon Lough Baptist Church, Gateshead: 24 January
Buckminster Baptist Church, Leicester: 31 January
Stanmore Baptist Church, London: 21 February
Maghull Baptist Church, Liverpool: 28 February

Estate Churches Day
Wednesday 11 February – 1030-1500

This is a day for ministers and others who are serving on estates, where they are dealing with complex social issues and deprivation. It is being hosted by the Mission Department, and held at Rising Brook Baptist Church in Stafford, a venue just off the M6. Click here for a flyer advertising the event.

The speakers will include Jack Walker from Leigh Park, Havant. Twenty-five years ago God told Jack to work with the poor and he has spent most of his life living on estates. Leigh Park was built as a post-war overspill community and at one time the area was the largest Council estate in Europe. Leigh Park Baptist opened in 1957 and Jack went to minister there sixteen years ago. Jack says, “While at Leigh Park I have had the privilege seeing two new churches started. My family situation includes being a foster parent. Daily ministry brings me into relationship with the most needy in society from whom I learn constantly. Building community is my passion.”

The day will also give opportunity for views to be shared to encourage and give mutual support, and inform the Mission Department how best to resource this aspect of mission.

The cost of the day will be £20, including refreshments and working lunch. We hope you will be able to join us on the day - please complete and return the booking form before the end of January. Click here for booking form.
