On 27 February 2010 our BUGB President Kingsley Appiagyei, holds his third and final Prayer Call during his presidential year - which concludes at the Baptist Assembly in Plymouth in May. This special day in February, when Kingsley invites us to pray for our nation is also woven into the BMS World Mission ‘Wave of Prayer’ which starts on 26 February and finishes on 1 March.
Below you will not only find prayer points to enable you and your church to pray for the ‘soul’ of Britain, but also a specific prayer point for the needy region Esmeraldas in Ecuador. Kingsley visited this location with BMS in April 2009 and, as a result, a relationship has been developing between Trinity Baptist Church, West Norwood and Esmeraldas.'
BMS has made a short video about Kingsley’s visit which is available in ‘wmv’ format for PC and ‘mov’ format for Mac at:

Other BMS resources for the ‘Wave of Prayer’ can be found at www.bmsworldmission.org/dayofprayer
Please do consider taking part in this amazing weekend of prayer, making use of the resources from President Kingsley and BMS… just imagine what God could do if our churches pray for our country and the world he has created!

BMS World Mission and specifically the work of BMS in the region of Esmeraldas, Ecuador
President Kingsley says
‘My visit to Ecuador and Peru in April 2009 was a very fruitful one and a great experience. I was hosted by Stuart & Georgina Christine, and Peter & Vicky Butchers. In Ecuador, I had the rare opportunity of visiting Esmeraldas where we met a number of wonderful ministers. I also had the opportunity to see some of the work that had been started in some of the towns.
Something extraordinary happened on one of the visits which has stayed with me. We had visited a family that hosts a church under their open shed. As we talked with some of the members of the family we noticed they had a pig in a little shed nearby. Out of the blue one of the ministers who was with us mentioned ‘pig’ in their native language which he referred to as ‘preko’. Incidentally, that is the same word in my native Akan language too! That clearly was not just a coincidence. I have since felt a special connectedness with the people of Esmeraldas – it’s a great place.
I noticed a strong sense of unity among the ministers. What was also amazing was their zeal and eagerness towards the work of God, despite the fact that they lacked basic resources. For example in one instance, a particular church, although they had quite a number of children in their locality, could not afford toilets for their meeting place which made life very difficult. In another instance, the meeting place lacked a proper roof. The ministers there are doing a great work with limited resources, and need to be encouraged.
Let us pray for the people of Esmeraldas:
‘And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.’ (Matt 24:14)
‘After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.’ (Rev 7:9)
